For more than 30 years, Kenna Mansfield has defended various corporate entities in commercial litigation, including life, health, disability, property, casualty, and workers’ compensation insurers in cases alleging bad faith conduct. He has also represented health and disability carriers in ERISA litigation, as well as financial advisors and broker-dealers in securities related litigation. Kenna has extensive trial experience as lead counsel before juries in state and federal courts in cases involving wrongful death; personal injury; premises liability; fraud; embezzlement; breach of warranty; banking; commercial contracts; forgery; libel/slander; and bad faith life, health, and disability claims. Additionally, he has represented both manufacturers and sellers in product liability cases and served as lead counsel in the defense of numerous oil field environmental contamination cases and mass tort litigation.
Kenna reflects on his practice: “Throughout my career, I’ve enjoyed trying cases, and I very much enjoy arguing cases on appeal. Over the years, however, I’ve come to appreciate the art of resolving cases through negotiation, which is usually the resolution clients most desire. I’ve been able to negotiate compromise resolutions that were highly favorable to my clients. The keys to achieving this are viewing the cases objectively, maintaining a professional and mutually respectful working relationship with the opposing counsel, and, of course, being prepared to take the case to trial if necessary.”
Kenna received a B.A. from Delta State University and J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law. He has been selected as a Mid-South Super Lawyer every year since 2008 and as a Top 50 Mississippi Attorney in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019 having earned one of the highest point totals in the Mid-South Super Lawyers review process. Kenna has also been named among the Best Lawyers in America every year since 2010, as well as being selected a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
