Michael’s practice primarily focuses on complex litigation across both federal and state courts, with extensive experience in commercial litigation, contract disputes, insurance defense, estates and trust litigation, municipal litigation, property litigation, and appellate practice. Licensed in both Mississippi and Louisiana, Michael brings expertise in the common law and civil code legal systems unique to each jurisdiction. He is admitted to practice in all courts—both state and federal—throughout Mississippi and Louisiana.
Since joining Wells, Marble & Hurst, PLLC, Michael has handled every stage of litigation, including complex motions practice, discovery, trials, and appeals. His clients have included financial institutions, governmental entities, insurance carriers, and construction companies. He has represented clients in multi-million dollar commercial contract matters, construction litigation, and trust disputes, among others. Michael has argued before Mississippi and Louisiana courts, as well as participated in oral arguments before the Mississippi Supreme Court and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. His cases have ranged from Ponzi scheme civil litigation, to large-scale construction projects, tax sale litigation, and Amazon web-services disputes. His practice is entirely dedicated to civil litigation, with a view towards tailored strategies and cost-efficient solutions to his clients’ disputes.
A native of McComb, Mississippi, Michael graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Public Policy Leadership from the University of Mississippi. He was a Croft Scholar and studied abroad in Germany at Universität Potsdam and the International Summer School of Osnabrück. He later earned his Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from Mississippi College School of Law, where he graduated in the top 10 of his class. During law school, Michael was recognized with seven (7) AmJur awards, served as the Technical Articles Editor on Law Review, and was elected Student Body President. After law school, he honed his legal skills while clerking for two Justices of the Mississippi Supreme Court: Chief Justice William (“Bill”) Waller Jr. and Presiding Justice James (“Jim”) Kitchens.
Michael has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” and by Best Lawyers in America in their “Ones to Watch” category for multiple consecutive years. Active in his community, he has served on the Mississippi College Law Alumni Association Board of Directors, the Mississippi Young Lawyers Division, and as a past ABA Delegate on behalf of Mississippi.
