WELLS MARBLE OBTAINS RULING THAT RED ROOF INN IS A PUBLIC NUISANCE

Wells Marble members Kelly D. Simpkins, Kenna L. Mansfield, Jr., and Meta S. Copeland successfully represented the City of Ridgeland in prosecuting the Red Roof Inn of Ridgeland as a public nuisance due to significant criminal activity at the hotel, including indicators of human trafficking. Following a three-day trial, the Madison County Chancery Court ruled in favor of Ridgeland and ordered the permanent closure of the Red Roof Inn. “This ruling is a victory for the citizens of Ridgeland and sends a clear message that hotels in Mississippi who turn a blind eye to crime will be held accountable,” said Wells Marble attorney Kelly Simpkins. Simpkins and his trial team are committed to protecting the public from unlawful public nuisances and to seeking justice for victims of human trafficking.
