Stuart Robinson, Jr., recently attended the 2013 Litigation Management Institute at Columbia Law School in New York City. The Litigation Management Institute (LMI) is an intensive three day certification program designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the business of litigation management. The rigorous program bridges the gap between legal theory and litigation strategy and the business aspects of litigation management. This year’s faculty included Litigation Management executives from over 15 insurance companies and corporations. Some of the topics covered were Client Relations, Expectations, and Confidentiality; Reserving and Data Management from an Actuarial Perspective; E-Billing, E-Strategy and E-Discovery; Evaluation and Assessment; Impact Reporting; Coverage Perspectives; Fundamentals of Risk Transfer; Resolution Strategies; Practical Aspects of Litigation Management; and Litigation Management Metrics. The Certified Legal Management Professional (CLMP) designation awarded by the Institute is not only well respected, but an important and significant differentiator in panel counsel selection and retention. The Institute was limited to 100 experienced participants nationwide. Stuart Robinson is the only resident Mississippi attorney to hold this prestigious certification.
