At Wells Marble, we understand and promote the importance of diversity in the workplace. A diverse and dynamic law firm begins with a combination of men and women of all backgrounds who bring an array of perspectives, experiences, and interests to the firm. We strive to create and foster an environment in which all are inspired to achieve, grow, and advance, which in turn helps provide an additional level of legal expertise for our clients.
We recruit and hire applicants without regard to age, ancestry, gender, color, national origin, disability, place of birth, religion, sexual orientation, veteran status, or any legally protected status. Wells Marble has established a diversity committee with the mission of implementing and facilitating proactive policies addressing the issues of recruiting, retaining, and promoting qualified attorneys and staff.
One-third of our attorneys are women, including those of color and minority ethnicity. Women and minority attorneys occupy leadership positions, as well as being shareholders in the firm. In addition, over 80% of our non-lawyer professional staff consists of minorities and women.
Wells Marble encourages attorney development and growth through local associations, seminars, and organizations that are beneficial to the individual, the firm and our clients, and also the community as a whole. In addition to supporting minority bar associations and events, we encourage our minority and women attorneys to join and become actively involved. We currently have attorneys participating in the following:
- Magnolia Bar Association
- National Bar Association
- Mississippi Women Lawyers Association
- The Mississippi Bar – Women in the Profession Committee
- The Mississippi Bar – Women and the Law Sub-Committee
- Metro Jackson Black Women Lawyers
- Professional Women’s Association
Diversity is an essential component in the level of service and expertise we provide to our clients. The commitment and resolution of Wells Marble to continue to grow in this area will improve our legal knowledge, as well as advance our ability to provide the best legal services possible to our clients.
